Lucky North celebrates year on year growth

News release

Leeds-based PR agency Lucky North has shown specialist skills are the way to a fast-growing business, reporting a record financial performance for the year ending 31 December 2023.

The firm achieved a 28% increase in revenue to £370k compared to last year and a 35% increase in forecasted for 2024 to £500k. Pre-tax profits remained the same around £86k.

Directed by founding members, Lucy Baird and Kiran Watson, the power duo claimed their space in the region’s agency scene four years ago, after launching as a dedicated PR agency for businesses with headquarters in the north of England.

Stating their specialism as the rea son for its fast growth, Lucy Baird, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to report continued growth despite the turbulent economic backdrop. Kiran and I are both so dedicated to the power that PR can arm a business with and it’s so rewarding to be making a genuine impact, with tangible business benefits for our clients. The economic climate is tough at the moment and so we know how paramount it is to be demonstrating this value to our clients.

“When we first set up Lucky North, we wanted to be the most recommended PR agency in the north. When every new lead started with a conversation that went, ‘You were recommended to us’ we knew our vision was coming to life.”

Now, with stats that prove their vision, the female-founded agency is proud to claim 100% of inbound leads come from recommendations.

Lucky North joined the creative scene in Leeds in 2019, opening as a team of two with an ambition to grow. Now, about to enter its fifth year, the specialist PR agency has grown its staff to a team of ten and is looking ahead to further growth in 2024.

Speaking about launching Lucky North ahead of the economic ups and downs since 2020, Lucy said: “PR agencies can find economic downturns challenging. New business leads have been approaching us on a regular basis since our launch in 2019, but not everyone has the budget to fulfil the creative vision we know we can offer.

“To us, running a sustainable and impactful business means seeing challenges as opportunities. That’s why we created our flagship PR packages. We don’t say no to businesses in need of our services because we can serve every budget size. Ranging from a tailor-made PR guide and training for in-house teams to one off projects and campaigns, our clients benefit from the PR that meets them where they are and the goals they want to achieve.”

Newly situated in Park Place in Leeds, the team has also celebrated its new central location after the sudden growth demanded more office space.

The team ended 2023 by picking up its first industry award, winning Best Education Campaign at the Prolific North marketing awards for its campaign, Message in a Bottle Top. The campaign saw 2.5 million people reached with environmental messages.

Kiran added: “We believe PR goes beyond media coverage. Our work actively changes perceptions and consumer behaviour for the long term. That’s why our favourite campaigns are the ones that demand so much attention you can’t get away from the message within.”
